Togo at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) will officially close today in Apia, Samoa, marking Togo’s first participation in this biennial event. Togo is represented by Prime Minister Victoire Dogbé.

The meeting, presided over by King Charles III of the United Kingdom, brings together leaders from the 56 member states of the Commonwealth to discuss “multilateral collaboration and renew their commitment to mutual development”.

During the summit’s opening, Prime Minister Dogbé, along with leaders from other new member countries, was formally welcomed by the British monarch.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Dogbé held talks with a delegation from the Commonwealth Business and Investment Council, discussing potential areas of cooperation and investment.

In a key announcement at CHOGM, leaders named the Honourable Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, as the next Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.
